NYS Department of Health, Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program
New York State’s Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) is designed to improve the nutritional well-being of New York’s low-income residents by reducing hunger, malnutrition and nutritionally related illness.
It benefits the food insecure on Long Island by providing Long Island Cares lines of credit to purchase nutritious foods, as well as food safety and sanitation supplies.
Food pantries and soup kitchens with 501C3 status, at least 6 months proof of operation, all required permits (i.e. soup kitchen required permit) and an a board of directors.
Application submission for 2025-2026 funding period will be open 3/31/2025. The applications will be emailed out to your primary email address on file.
Food Bank grant awardees will receive an award letter and will have access on the portal to begin shopping effective July 1, 2025.
